PARR, Renee Saunders, 30, of Mechanicsville, passed away July 14, 2014. Renee lived her life with passion, joy and love, "and in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make." She is survived by her husband, Zach; daughter, Avery Emerson; parents, Raymond and LaVerne (Crumpler) Saunders; sister, Rachel "Bobalou"; maternal and paternal grandmothers, Jerry Crumpler and Lillian Saunders; Zach's parents, Allan and Terry Parr; Zach's sister and her husband, Leah "Bee" and Buck Dalton; niece, Aubrey; Zach's grandmother, Bessie Dowdy; and countless extended family and friends. Renee was a graduate of Atlee High School (2002) and Radford University (2006). She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education and began her dream career with Hanover County Public Schools, where she was a first grade teacher at Mechanicsville Elementary School. Renee was a coach and mentor for the Atlee High School Cheerleading Squad. Renee had a lifelong passion for dance, from pli‚eing as a tiny ballerina, to busting some moves with Zach, and most recently introducing the art of dance to her beloved Avery. "When you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance." The family of Renee Saunders Parr will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Cool Spring Baptist Church Recreation Center, 9283 Atlee Station Rd. The graveside ceremony will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "Hanover Education Foundation, Attn: Renee's Cheerios," P.O. Box 1297, Ashland, Va. 23005. This foundation is rooted in the love and generosity Renee shared with children that were in need in any way. Renee felt strongly about helping children in need because they deserved every opportunity to become the grown-up they dreamed to be. It broke her heart to think about and she always strived to meet their needs even with the simplest bags of Cheerios for snack time. All proceeds will go to the students of Mechanicsville Elementary School to help with school supplies, lunches, coats, shoes, field trips or any other needs a student may have throughout the year.
